WHO WE ARE

We are a collaborative of design professionals with expertise in green roof design. Our core group is comprised of Kathleen Bakewell, Landscape Architect, Rachel Frankel, Architect, the Office of James Ruderman, Structural Engineer, and Michael Zenreich, Code Consultant. Each is a recognized authority in his/her field of expertise and all are licensed professionals. Our team also includes mechanical and civil engineers and legal consultants. We provide comprehensive green roof design services necessary for a successful green roof installation from feasibility through design and construction phases. We are also able to guide green roof projects through the Department of Environmental Protection's Green Infrastructure Grant.

OUR SERVICES

• Green roof design and lay-out for various types of green roofs including the vegetative layer


• Structural analyses to determine load bearing capacity of roof for a green roof installation


• Architectural analyses of a roof per NYC Building Code and Zoning Regulations


• LEED evaluation and compliance


• Design and specification of waterproofing membrane, root barrier layer, insulation layer, drainage layer, and growth medium in compliance with NYC construction and fire codes and the Energy Conservation Construction Code of NYS


• Storm water retention analysis and design per municipal rules and regulations


• Construction documents for the green roof


• Recommendation/Selection of green roof installer/general contractor


• Construction administration


• Special Inspections and Sign-offs as required by the NYC Department of Buildings and other Building Departments
• Design, coordination and management of applications and submissions to the NYC Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Infrastructure Grant
